No date set
Boreman was a porcelain painter. He is mentioned in 1770 in the accounts of the Chelsea Porcelain Factory, where he was paid as a decorator. He moved to Derby in 1783 where he worked, more or less continually until 1794. He was known for his landscapes and it is has been suggested by John Fineran that he was tutored by both Paul Sandby and Joseph Wright.
Reynard’s Cave in Dovedale is situated behind a large, natural limestone arch. The archway is very distinctive and visitors can climb up the steep pathway from the bottom of the valley, to its entrance. The cave and arch feature in an engraving published by Robert Sayer around 1770 and John Nixon (1750-1818) sketched a group picnicking in the cave (Buxton Museum, DERSB 2015.31).
